Repairs
After a fall protection system is installed, the work isn't done. In order to stay compliant, regular assessments and inspections should be taking place to ensure that none of the equipment is in need of repairs. PPE equipment especially should be checked before every use for signs of damage. Remember that your fall protection system is only as good as the PPE making the connection between your body harness and the anchor point. Once a fall occurs, the equipment used in the arrest needs to be inspected and replaced.
Technicians at many of our regional locations are certified by manufacturers to trade out damaged PPE and other equipment, perform repairs, and return it to service when possible.
Since 1994, our team of experts has established a comprehensive system for delivering OSHA-compliant fall protection solutions and educating clients. Get in touch with us today to schedule an assessment or request repairs.
When to replace your PPE?
Adhering to the manufacturer's specified service life is important, but what is even more important is the condition of your equipment. OSHA 1926.502 requires inspection “prior to each use for wear, damage, and other deterioration, and defective components shall be removed from service.” During your pre-use inspections, make sure to look out for
- Ripped, frayed, cut, burnt, discolored, or soiled webbing, or paint on the webbing
- An impact indicator suggesting a fall took place
- Corroded or damaged snap hooks
- Illegible tags
